LAS CRUCES — Teldrick Morgan and Andrew Allen are leaving the New Mexico State football program, Aggies head coach Doug Martin confirmed to the Sun-News on Friday.

Teldrick Morgan

Morgan led the Aggies in receptions the past two seasons. Morgan, who will graduate in May, led the Aggies with 551 yards on 45 receptions in an injury plagued redshirt junior season that limited him to nine games. He was a second-team Sun Belt Conference receiver in 2014 with 75 receptions for 905 yards and seven touchdowns.

While Morgan has proven to be a capable receiver, Aggies coaches have been high on junior college receivers Josh Aganon, Jaleel Scott and Johnathan Boone in spring workouts. Senior Tyrain Taylor also returns after leading the Aggies with 691 yards last year.

Allen led the Aggies to Sun Belt victories over Idaho and Louisiana-Lafayette last year as a true sophomore. He finished with 1,529 passing yards with 16 touchdowns and eight interceptions and 197 yards rushing in eight games.

Allen's 243-yard, four touchdowns performance in NMSU's 37-34 victory at Lafayette led to national exposure after attending a memorial for his murdered father in Texas earlier in the day. But Allen was also part of a crowded quarterback competition this spring that included two redshirt juniors (Tyler Rogers and Conner Cramer) and a redshirt sophomore (Nick Jeanty).

Oñate linebacker commits to Aggies

Oñate linebacker Matthew Young, son of former Aggie Fred Young, has committed to New Mexico State.

Young, a 6-foot-4, 230-pound junior outside linebacker was third in tackles for the Knights last year.

"I think (NMSU) is a good place for him," OHS coach Brent Jaquess said. "They were the first to offer him and he was showing loyalty for giving him that opportunity. He's a great athlete that is not even close to reaching his potential."

NMSU is also the only current Division I offer for OHS linebacker Forest McKee.
